Primary Tufting Cloth - White with Grid 4×4 m Kreoho®

Regular price €89,90

Description

The Primary Tufting Cloth - White with Grid 4×4 m Kreoho® is a professional fabric designed as a primary backing for creating rugs, wall art, and other tufting projects.

Its 65% polyester and 35% cotton composition combines strength, elasticity, and stability, allowing the tufting gun to glide smoothly while helping the yarn remain securely anchored to the fabric. The double warp and double weft construction keeps the fabric stable and uniform even when stretched on a tufting frame.

The reference grid woven into the fabric every 5 cm helps align the fabric, check that it is evenly stretched, and maintain accurate proportions and symmetry throughout the tufting process.

Easy to mount and stretch, it is a versatile solution suitable for both beginners and experienced artists and professionals looking for precision, reliability, and stability while tufting.

FAQ

What is Primary Tufting Cloth?

Primary Tufting Cloth is the base fabric used to create a rug with a tufting gun. It is mounted onto the frame, stretched evenly, and used as the foundation into which the yarn is inserted. Once the tufting is complete, the back of the rug is sealed with glue and finished with a Secondary Backing.

How do I properly mount the fabric onto the frame?

For accurate tufting results, the fabric should be stretched evenly across all sides of the frame. We recommend leaving a margin of approximately 5–15 cm (2–6 inches) beyond the frame to allow it to be securely attached. Even, progressive tension helps the tufting gun move smoothly, improves line accuracy, and reduces the risk of fabric distortion during tufting.

To make stretching easier, faster, and more even, we recommend using a Professional Fabric Stretching Pliers, especially for larger frames or fabrics with lower elasticity, such as jute.

Can I re-stretch the fabric while tufting?

Yes. If certain areas of the fabric lose tension during tufting, it is recommended to pause your work and re-stretch the fabric before continuing. Working on a properly tensioned surface helps maintain consistent needle penetration and improves the overall quality of the finished piece.

What is the difference between polyester and jute Primary Tufting Cloth?

Polyester Primary Tufting Cloth features a more consistent weave, greater elasticity, and excellent stability during tufting. These characteristics allow the tufting gun to glide more smoothly while helping the yarn stay securely anchored in the fabric, making it the ideal choice for both beginners and experienced tufting artists.

Jute, on the other hand, is mainly appreciated for its natural, textured appearance. Compared to polyester, it is less elastic and has a more open weave, requiring greater care during tufting. If not handled correctly, it may deform more easily and create wider gaps between the fibers, making proper yarn anchoring more difficult in some situations. For this reason, jute is generally recommended for users with previous tufting experience or for those seeking a specific natural aesthetic.

Is Primary Tufting Cloth compatible with all tufting guns?

Yes. Kreoho® Primary Tufting Cloth is compatible with the main Cut Pile, Loop Pile, and Cut & Loop tufting guns, provided that the machine is correctly adjusted and the fabric is properly stretched on a suitable tufting frame.

Can I cut the fabric to the size I need?

Yes. The fabric can be easily cut to fit the dimensions of your frame or project. However, we recommend always leaving enough extra fabric around the edges so it can be securely attached and properly tensioned during tufting.

What is the purpose of the integrated reference grid?

Some Kreoho® Primary Tufting Cloth fabrics feature an integrated reference grid woven directly into the fabric. It helps align your design, check that the fabric is evenly stretched, and maintain accurate proportions and symmetry throughout the tufting process, making it particularly useful for both beginners and more complex projects.
