Tufting Pure Wool Kreoho® - Petroleum Blue 500g

Regular price €20,90

Description

Tufting Pure Wool Kreoho® Petroleum Blue is a 100% carded New Zealand wool (woollen spun) yarn in a 500g cone, designed for a wide range of textile applications, from tufting to punch needle, from crochet to knitting, all the way to handcrafted decor pieces and interior design projects.

The shade Petroleum Blue is a dark blue with subtle greenish undertones, modern and refined. It’s a great choice for contemporary interiors, where it creates deep, elegant contrasts and a sense of visual richness. Pair it with warm neutrals, off-whites, greys, or metallic accents for a sophisticated look.

Made with selected natural fibres (micron 36–38 μm, length 3–5 inches), this yarn offers a dense, substantial texture, excellent structural resistance, and a professional look, while remaining stable and easy to work with. Wool’s high natural moisture regain (≈16%) supports durability and consistency over time.

Wool origin and quality

We source wool from New Zealand, globally recognised for its quality and reliability. The fibres are selected to ensure high performance in tufting and textile applications, while respecting strict ethical standards. The wool is mulesing-free, traceable and processed to provide consistency, durability and professional results over time.

Benefits

Tufting Pure Wool Kreoho® is a premium natural yarn made from New Zealand wool, designed to ensure stability, performance, and consistency across textile projects.

The balanced 3 PLY structure provides definition and compactness in tufting, while the woollen spinning method adds volume and fullness to the pile. Wool is naturally water-repellent, resistant to dirt, and capable of maintaining its shape and structure even after intensive use.

The professional moth-resistant treatment enhances long-term durability, while the high yield per cone reduces waste and allows for smoother workflow, especially in large-scale projects.

An ideal choice for professionals and creatives seeking a natural, high-performing, and reliable material.

Estimated Yield

For a 10 × 10 cm surface created using the tufting technique with a 10–15 mm pile height, approximately 15 g of yarn is required.

Tufting Pure Wool Kreoho® is designed to be used as a single thread in our tufting machines. The 3 PLY structure and 1000/3 Tex count already provide optimal body, coverage, and stability without the need to double the yarn.

Using a single thread ensures proper tension, smoother needle flow, and greater stitch precision, while reducing mechanical wear on the machine. Double-thread use is possible, but it is not the recommended setup for our models.

Recommended Use

  • Manual tufting
  • Tufting machine
  • Punch needle
  • Crochet
  • Knitting
  • Wall hangings and textile wall art

Thanks to its full structure and woollen spinning method, this yarn is particularly suitable for decorative projects, rugs, wall art, and structured textile creations.

If used for garments, please consider that with a micron range of 36–38 μm, the yarn may feel firmer and slightly coarse against direct skin contact. For this reason, it is not recommended for baby garments or applications requiring exceptional softness on the skin.

Things to know

The cone weight may vary slightly.

The color shown is indicative – the shade may slightly differ from the photo. For a more accurate evaluation of the available shades, we recommend consulting the Tufting Pure Wool Kreoho® Color Shade Card.

We recommend purchasing all the required yarn in a single order to ensure batch consistency and guarantee the exact same color tone throughout your entire project.

For optimal performance with Kreoho® tufting machines, we recommend using single-thread yarn. Our models are calibrated to work with this configuration, ensuring uniform results, stitch definition, and reduced stress on the needle and internal mechanics. Using double thread may alter density and pile behavior and should be evaluated based on the desired result and machine settings.

FAQ

Is Pure Wool Kreoho® suitable for tufting with a tufting machine?

Yes. Tufting Pure Wool Kreoho® is a 100% New Zealand wool yarn suitable for use with a tufting machine. Its 3 PLY structure and yarn consistency make it possible to create compact, well-defined and durable surfaces, making it particularly suitable for rugs, wall art and other Fiber Art projects.

How many strands should I use in the tufting machine? What is the thickness of a single strand?

Pure Wool Kreoho® is an ARAN 3 PLY, 1000/3 Tex (3/3 Nm) yarn. With Kreoho® tufting machines, we recommend working with a single strand, the configuration for which the yarn is optimized and which ensures smooth feeding through the needle, precision during tufting and optimized material consumption.

Experienced artists may choose to use two strands at the same time to achieve a fuller and more voluminous surface. In this case, it is essential to check that both strands move freely through the needle hole without friction or resistance.

How much wool is needed to make a tufted rug?

As a reference, approximately 15 g of Pure Wool Kreoho® is required to create a 10 × 10 cm surface, considering a pile height of approximately 10–15 mm. Actual consumption may vary depending on stitch density, pile height and the technique used.

Why choose wool for making a tufted rug?

Wool is particularly suitable for rugs and textile surfaces thanks to the natural resilience of the fiber, its ability to maintain shape and structure, and its good resistance to dirt. Pure Wool Kreoho® also creates a full-bodied surface with a natural matte finish, characteristics that are particularly appreciated in tufting and Fiber Art.

Can I use Pure Wool Kreoho® for techniques other than tufting?

Yes. Pure Wool Kreoho® can also be used for punch needle, crochet, knitting, tapestries, wall art and other Fiber Art projects. For knitting and crochet, needles or hooks of approximately 5–6 mm are recommended.

Can there be color differences between different batches of Pure Wool Kreoho®?

Yes. Slight variations in shade may occur between different production batches, which is normal for wool yarns. For this reason, if a project requires several cones of the same color, we recommend purchasing the required quantity from the beginning to increase the likelihood that the yarn comes from the same production batch.

Color display on monitors and smartphones may also differ slightly from the actual color. To directly evaluate and compare the shades in the range, which includes 80 colors, the Pure Wool Kreoho® Color Shade Card is available.
