Primary Tufting Cloth - White with Grid 4×4 m Kreoho®

Regular price €89,90

Description

The Primary Tufting Cloth - White with Grid 4×4 m Kreoho® is a professional fabric designed as a primary backing for creating rugs, wall art, and other tufting projects.

Its 65% polyester and 35% cotton composition combines strength, elasticity, and stability, allowing the tufting gun to glide smoothly while helping the yarn remain securely anchored to the fabric. The double warp and double weft construction keeps the fabric stable and uniform even when stretched on a tufting frame.

The reference grid woven into the fabric every 5 cm helps align the fabric, check that it is evenly stretched, and maintain accurate proportions and symmetry throughout the tufting process.

Easy to mount and stretch, it is a versatile solution suitable for both beginners and experienced artists and professionals looking for precision, reliability, and stability while tufting.

FAQ

What is a Primary Tufting Cloth?

Primary Tufting Cloth is the base fabric on which the rug is created during the tufting process using a tufting gun. It is attached to the frame, properly tensioned and used as the foundation for inserting the yarn. Once the work is complete, the back of the rug is sealed with adhesive and finished with a Secondary Backing.

How do I correctly attach the fabric to the frame?

For precise tufting, the fabric must be evenly tensioned on all sides of the frame. We recommend leaving approximately 5–15 cm of extra fabric beyond the perimeter of the frame so that it can be properly secured. Applying tension gradually and evenly makes it easier to move the tufting gun, improves line accuracy and reduces the risk of the fabric becoming distorted during the tufting process.

To tension the fabric more easily, quickly and evenly, it can be helpful to use canvas pliers, particularly recommended for large frames or fabrics with less elasticity, such as jute.

Can I re-tension the fabric while working?

Yes. If some areas of the fabric lose tension during tufting, we recommend temporarily stopping and re-tensioning the fabric before continuing. Always working on a properly tensioned surface helps maintain consistent needle penetration and improves the quality of the final result.

What is the difference between polyester and jute Primary Tufting Cloth?

Polyester Primary Tufting Cloths (or polyester blends) have a more regular weave, greater elasticity and excellent stability during tufting. These characteristics make it easier to move the tufting gun across the fabric and help the yarn remain securely anchored, making them an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced users.

Jute, on the other hand, is particularly appreciated for its natural and textured appearance. Compared with polyester, it is less elastic and has a more open weave, characteristics that require greater care during tufting. If not worked correctly, it can distort more easily and create wider gaps between the fibres, which in some cases can make it more difficult for the yarn to remain properly anchored. For this reason, it is generally recommended for users who already have some tufting experience or who want to achieve a specific aesthetic effect.

Is Primary Tufting Cloth compatible with all tufting machines?

Yes. Kreoho® Primary Tufting Cloths are compatible with the main Cut Pile, Loop Pile and Cut & Loop tufting machines, provided that the machine is correctly adjusted and the fabric is mounted on a properly tensioned frame.

Can I cut the fabric to the size I need?

Yes. The fabric can easily be cut to fit the dimensions of your frame or project. However, we recommend always leaving enough extra fabric around the edges so that it can be properly secured and tensioned during tufting.

What is the purpose of the reference grid found on some models?

Some Kreoho® Primary Tufting Cloths feature a reference grid integrated directly into the fabric weave. This helps align the design, check that the fabric is evenly tensioned and makes it easier to maintain proportions and symmetry during tufting. It is particularly useful for both beginners and more complex projects.
