Premium Woven Secondary Backing - Anti-Slip 2,9×2 m Kreoho®

Regular price €36,90

Description

Premium Woven Secondary Backing - Anti-Slip 2,9×2 m Kreoho® is an anti-slip secondary backing fabric designed to finish the back of tufted rugs and other textile creations.

Its thin, lightweight woven structure helps protect the back of the piece without adding excessive thickness. The anti-slip surface also improves the rug's grip on the floor and helps achieve a neat, professional finish on the back.

Compared with felt backing, it provides a cleaner and more compact finish, making it particularly suitable when you want to keep the rug lightweight and preserve its flexibility. It can be easily cut and adapted to the shape of the project, including irregular profiles.

One of its main features is the possibility of applying it directly to the adhesive while it is still wet, simplifying the finishing process and reducing the time required to complete the project.

Benefits

  • Anti-slip effect: The fabric surface helps improve the rug's grip on the floor, making it more stable during use.
  • Thin and neat finish: The compact structure allows you to finish the back without creating an excessively thick layer, keeping the piece lighter and more flexible.
  • Application on wet adhesive: It can be applied directly during the gluing process, without having to wait for the adhesive to dry completely before adding the backing.
  • Easy to cut: The fabric can be shaped to match the outline of the project, making it easy to finish curved or irregular shapes.
  • Protects the back: It covers the back of the piece, protects the yarn and adhesive, and helps achieve a cleaner, more professional finish.
  • Lightweight and versatile: Ideal for those looking for an anti-slip solution that is less bulky than felt and suitable for rugs of different shapes and sizes.

Things to know

  • Apply the backing to the back of the piece while the adhesive is still wet, following the instructions provided for the adhesive being used.
  • Lay the fabric evenly, avoiding wrinkles, air bubbles or areas that do not adhere properly.
  • Cut the backing leaving a small margin initially, then trim it once it has been positioned correctly.
  • The anti-slip effect helps improve the stability of the rug, but does not replace additional securing systems when required by the type of flooring or the environment in which the rug is used.

FAQ

What is a Secondary Backing?

A Secondary Backing is the finishing layer applied to the back of a rug after the glue has been spread. Its purpose is to protect the back of the rug, improve its finish, and—depending on the material selected—increase comfort, stability, or grip on the floor.

Which Secondary Backing should I choose?

The best choice mainly depends on the result you want to achieve.

  • Anti-Slip Felt is the ideal solution if you are looking for a soft, more structured finish with excellent anti-slip performance.
  • Woven Anti-Slip is a thinner and lighter fabric, appreciated for its clean finish and the minimal thickness it adds to the rug. Thanks to its flexibility, it is also particularly practical to apply directly onto fresh glue.
  • Felt is ideal if you want a soft, clean finish without the need for an anti-slip surface. It is especially recommended for wall art and hanging textile pieces, as it helps keep the finished piece lighter than anti-slip backings, making installation easier.

How do I apply a Secondary Backing?

Once the tufting is complete, apply a uniform layer of Kreoho® Tufting Glue to the back of the Primary Tufting Cloth.

You can then choose between two application methods:

  • Apply onto fresh glue by placing the Secondary Backing immediately onto the wet adhesive. All Kreoho® Secondary Backings are compatible with this technique, allowing you to skip one step and speed up the process.
  • Apply after the glue has dried by allowing the glue on the Primary Tufting Cloth to cure completely before attaching the Secondary Backing. This is generally the safer method and is especially recommended for beginners.

As you gain experience, you will naturally discover which method best suits your workflow and the type of project you are creating.

Which glue should I use?

For reliable adhesion and a professional finish, we recommend using Kreoho® Tufting Glue, specifically developed for bonding tufted rugs and fully compatible with all Kreoho® Secondary Backings.

Can I use a Secondary Backing on any rug?

Yes. Kreoho® Secondary Backings are compatible with most rugs made using a tufting gun, including both Cut Pile and Loop Pile, and can also be used for other fiber art projects that require a finished backing.

Can I cut the Secondary Backing to the size I need?

Yes. We recommend applying the Secondary Backing using a piece that is slightly larger than the rug and trimming it only after the glue has fully cured. This will give you cleaner edges and a more professional finish.

Is it always necessary to use a Secondary Backing?

Although it is not strictly required, using a Secondary Backing is highly recommended. Besides improving the appearance of the back of the rug, it helps protect it from wear, extends the life of your work, and—depending on the material selected—can also add comfort, stability, or anti-slip properties.
