Icon Acrylic Kreoho® Black is a 100 g yarn made from 100% Dralon® acrylic fibre, suitable for a wide range of textile and decorative techniques, including tufting, knitting, crochet, weaving, punch needle, amigurumi and textile décor. Tufting

For a 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) area tufted with a pile height of approximately 10–15 mm, around 15 g of Icon Acrylic Kreoho® yarn is required.

This corresponds approximately to 1.1 – 1.8 kg of yarn per m², depending on pile height, density and tufting technique.

Compatibility

For tufting, it is compatible with all our Tufting Machines. It can be used for both cut pile and loop pile projects, taking into account machine settings, design density and the number of strands used.

Usage Configuration

For knitting and crochet projects, the recommended needle or hook size is 3 – 3.5 mm.

For tufting, Icon Acrylic Kreoho® can be used either single-strand or double-strand, depending on the desired result:

• 1 strand: greater detail precision and density control
• 2 strands: fuller coverage and a denser surface

Compared to many other yarns, the diameter of Icon Acrylic generally provides good yarn flow even when using a double-strand configuration.

However, it remains essential to check the needle eye size of the tufting machine.

Before starting the final project, it is always recommended to test the yarn on a small area to evaluate coverage, tension and overall results.

Can Icon Acrylic be used for both tufting and other textile techniques?

Yes. Icon Acrylic is a versatile acrylic yarn, suitable not only for tufting, but also for knitting, crochet, punch needle, weaving, amigurumi and other creative textile techniques. The 100 g ball format makes it practical both for creating complete projects and for using individual colours for details, decorations and colour combinations.

Is it better to use Icon Acrylic with one or two strands in a tufting machine?

Icon Acrylic can be used with a tufting machine with either a single strand or two strands. Using one strand provides greater control over details and design density, while using two strands provides fuller coverage and a more compact surface.

The thickness of Icon Acrylic generally allows both strands to feed smoothly when used together. However, it is important to make sure that both strands move freely through the needle hole of your tufting machine, without creating friction or resistance. Before starting your project, we recommend testing the yarn on a small area.

How much Icon Acrylic do I need for a tufting project?

As a reference, a 10 × 10 cm area with a pile height of approximately 10–15 mm requires around 15 g of yarn.

Consumption may vary depending on line density, pile height, tufting machine configuration and the number of strands used. For larger surfaces, the indicated consumption is approximately 1.1–1.8 kg per 1 m².

How much yarn do I need for knitting, crochet or amigurumi?

Consumption depends on the type of project, the stitch used and yarn tension. As a general guide, one 100 g ball may be sufficient for small accessories, decorations or amigurumi; scarves, hats and small crochet projects may require approximately 1–2 balls, while the indicative requirement for a size 42 sweater is around 5 balls.

For knitting and crochet, Icon Acrylic is suitable for relatively fine and detailed work, with recommended knitting needles of 3–3.5 mm and a crochet hook of approximately 3.5 mm.

What types of projects is Icon Acrylic particularly suitable for?

Thanks to its 3 PLY structure, soft feel and yarn consistency, Icon Acrylic is particularly suitable for projects where precision, detail definition and an even surface are important.

The possibility of using the same yarn with different techniques also makes it possible to combine tufting, crochet, punch needle, weaving or other textile techniques within the same creative project.

How should I clean and care for a project made with Icon Acrylic?

Acrylic yarn is generally easy to clean and maintain. For the regular care of tufted or decorative pieces, we recommend removing dust and surface debris regularly. For small stains, it is preferable to clean the affected area locally with a damp cloth and a mild detergent, avoiding excessive rubbing.

For items suitable for washing, follow the standard precautions for acrylic fibres: use low temperatures and mild detergents, and avoid high temperatures or aggressive treatments. In the case of a tufted piece, the other materials used, such as the primary cloth, adhesive and backing, must also be considered before proceeding with a full wash.

Can there be colour differences between different production batches?

There may be slight variations in shade between different production batches, although with acrylic yarns these differences are often barely noticeable compared with those that can occur with wool yarns. For large projects or large areas in the same colour, we nevertheless recommend purchasing the full quantity required from the outset.
