The Secondary Backing - Anti-Slip Felt 1×1 m Kreoho® is a professional secondary backing designed to finish the back of tufted rugs, wall art and other fiber art projects.

Made from 100% recycled polyester, it combines softness, durability and flexibility. The surface features anti-slip silicone dots that improve the rug’s grip on smooth floors, helping to reduce movement during use.

Applied after the glue has been spread, it protects the back of the piece, improves the finish and gives it a neater, more professional appearance. Its soft structure also makes the rug more comfortable where it comes into contact with the floor.

What is a Secondary Backing?

A Secondary Backing is the finishing layer applied to the back of a rug after the glue has been spread. Its purpose is to protect the back of the rug, improve its finish, and—depending on the material selected—increase comfort, stability, or grip on the floor.

Which Secondary Backing should I choose?

The best choice mainly depends on the result you want to achieve.

• Anti-Slip Felt is the ideal solution if you are looking for a soft, more structured finish with excellent anti-slip performance.
• Woven Anti-Slip is a thinner and lighter fabric, appreciated for its clean finish and the minimal thickness it adds to the rug. Thanks to its flexibility, it is also particularly practical to apply directly onto fresh glue.
• Felt is ideal if you want a soft, clean finish without the need for an anti-slip surface. It is especially recommended for wall art and hanging textile pieces, as it helps keep the finished piece lighter than anti-slip backings, making installation easier.

How do I apply a Secondary Backing?

Once the tufting is complete, apply a uniform layer of Kreoho® Tufting Glue to the back of the Primary Tufting Cloth.

You can then choose between two application methods:

• Apply onto fresh glue by placing the Secondary Backing immediately onto the wet adhesive. All Kreoho® Secondary Backings are compatible with this technique, allowing you to skip one step and speed up the process.
• Apply after the glue has dried by allowing the glue on the Primary Tufting Cloth to cure completely before attaching the Secondary Backing. This is generally the safer method and is especially recommended for beginners.

As you gain experience, you will naturally discover which method best suits your workflow and the type of project you are creating.

Which glue should I use?

For reliable adhesion and a professional finish, we recommend using Kreoho® Tufting Glue, specifically developed for bonding tufted rugs and fully compatible with all Kreoho® Secondary Backings.

Can I use a Secondary Backing on any rug?

Yes. Kreoho® Secondary Backings are compatible with most rugs made using a tufting gun, including both Cut Pile and Loop Pile, and can also be used for other fiber art projects that require a finished backing.

Can I cut the Secondary Backing to the size I need?

Yes. We recommend applying the Secondary Backing using a piece that is slightly larger than the rug and trimming it only after the glue has fully cured. This will give you cleaner edges and a more professional finish.

Is it always necessary to use a Secondary Backing?

Although it is not strictly required, using a Secondary Backing is highly recommended. Besides improving the appearance of the back of the rug, it helps protect it from wear, extends the life of your work, and—depending on the material selected—can also add comfort, stability, or anti-slip properties.
